Managers’ development environments: an integrative literature review

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to assess previous research on conditions for managers’ learning and development in daily work practices how such may influence their sustainability also propose a concept heuristic model that reconceptualizes expands the theoretical foundations generated studies at work. Design/methodology/approach This based an integrative literature review. search identified 1,403 unique studies. Nine qualitative seven quantitative met relevance quality criteria were included Findings results review found associations between conditions, career opportunities, individual engagement sustainability. However, small amount empirical data used reviewed cross-sectional design make it difficult establish nature relationship different variables. Practical implications show managers need care take advantage opportunities own not only function as creators employees’ development. Employers should keep mind environment includes employees.
